Nicholas Hughes, the son of famed poet's Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes committed suicide by hanging on March 16th. Some things run in families. Plath, famed author of the Bell Jar (a story of madness and suicide) committed suicide when he was just a boy. His step-mother committed suicide as well only 6 years later, while his father Ted Hughes (The Iron Giant) died a few years back of cancer (some blame him for both Plath's and his second wife's suicide). "Hughes' older sister, poet Frieda Hughes, issued a statement through the Times of London, expressing her "profound sorrow" and saying that he "had been battling depression for some time."
